Story

With Volunteering at the heartbeat of all the work done here at Corrymeela, this is why we are again raising money through donning our running shoes as two relay teams to run our way to help support our volunteering community.

Your donation however large or small will help our volunteers continue this great work, enabling you to give the same opportunities we have received to create change in ourselves and others on a local and global scale.

we have two fabulous relay teams:

Team 1:

AlyssaTender -  Hi my name is Alyssa, I’m from the US, and I am so excited to run a leg of the Belfast marathon with people I care about, for an organization I care about. I was never a big fan of running before coming to Corrymeela, but something about the North Coast gets me out most mornings for a quick jog. Thanks so much for your support and donations.

Jakob Ellensohn - Hi my name is Jakob, I´m from south-west Germany, and I am really excited to run for the Corrymeela team. To be honest I haven't run much before I came to Northern Ireland, but I have been coaching myself I really enjoy it. Wish me luck

Kerry Logan - I'm from Northern Ireland and I am running the relay because I love running and I love Corrymeela. Thanks so much for your donations!

Annie O'Brien  - Hi! I come from Mullaghbane, South Armagh. I am very excited to be running part of the Belfast marathon for Corrymeela! I have been living at Corrymeela since January and will be working as a long term volunteer here until December. I love running along the Antrim coast from Corrymeela to Marconi's cottage but I have never taken part in a marathon before so I am very excited about the challenge.

Lisa Albrecht - I'm an intern in the Corrymeela Programme
Department and to be honest, I'm really scared that this marathon is going to be a long and painful experience. I'll probably live to regret this and try to deny that it ever happened for the rest of my life, because I'm going be the one dragging my body 1 mile behind everyone else, red-faced and gasping.

Team 2:

Chris Foxall -I love to get my running shoes on and especially for Corrymeela. I have been a part of the Corry relay team before and thoroughly enjoyed it so what better way to raise some cash for the volunteer programme then have another crack at it. Super looking forward to race day. Please come one and all to support if you can and let’s try and raise as much for this amazing cause.

Sean Pettis - Sean is an internationally renown sports hero/legend.  Having completed several triathlons in his younger years, he discovered Kebabs during his student dayswhich reduced his athletic ability somewhat. When not experientially critiquing fast food outlets, he plays football for Corrymeela FC and can also be found slowing down the swimming lane at Queens' PEC. An occasional road runner (meep
meep) he was asked if he would run a leg of the marathon. Sean responded with, "What's the shortest leg I can run?", the response of "3
miles"  was pleasing to Sean, who retorted with " Aye ok, but if someone wants to I'll drop out".

David Cunningham - I am really excited to have been asked to be part of the Corrymeela relay team in the Belfast marathon this May 2017. As a creative therapist working on the family project ‘Get Together - bereaved families discovering’ run in partnership with Cruse Bereavement Care and funded by the Big Lottery, I have seen the benefit of how Corrymeela is able to welcome and support families with major loss in their lives after losing a sibling or parent. On the day of the marathon, I will be running to support Corrymeela continue to support families through residentials, who come to share their powerful voice of hope in living well together with the memory of their loved ones always in their hearts.

Olivia KleinHey I'm Liv, the logistics intern here at Corrymeela, and I'm lucky enough to call this place my home for the next year or so! I'm not much of a runner (I do better in the sea) but I'm really looking forward to challenging myself and doing so with some amazing individuals. This organization is transformative in such a substantial way for so many people, so naturally I jumped at the opportunity to raise some money/awareness for the work we do here. All of your donations are deeply appreciated. Bring on the ice packs!

Gareth GouldHi, I'm Gareth and I'm currently working as a Long Term Volunteer at Corrymeela. I'm originally from Antrim and over the past number of months I've experienced the unique and affecting work that Corrymeela does for a wide variety of groups that pass through the centre. I've found some running shoes, started to train up and I'm hoping to give back to Corrymeela in whatever way possible. Any and all donations are hugely appreciated!
