A New Chapter in Community Relations

Ballycastle’s Co–op book table scheme raised £238.89 during the month of April, in aid of neighbouring charity Corrymeela.
Co op Manager Nicola Norcott said “We are delighted to be able to help our friends in Corrymeela. We both play a role in fostering inclusion, and supporting community empowerment.
Co–op customers are so generous. Even though times are tough, the community give their spare pennies and pounds to local charity day in, day out.
The Book table scheme in store provides complimentary reading books to the community. Books for all ages are left and shared. It is also a great point of social contact, for conversations, and craic.
Every month we pick a charity and leave a collection bucket on the table.
The response month by month never fails to amaze.”
Corrymeela’s Supporter Relationship Manager Catherine O’Hara said “I would like to thank Nicola, her staff and customers for their kindness and support.
When I met with Nicola last year, there was no hesitation, and we are beyond grateful.
With the help of the public, we will continue to shine a light for peace, welcoming thousands of people, from different backgrounds into respectful conversations at Corrymeela. Learning how our differences enrich our lives. Moving closer to a future where we all live and work well together.”
